2025 WARP Textile Artisan Grant Application

We are delighted to announce that in 2025, WARP will again offer  Artisan Support Grants to artisans who need help in building healthy businesses inspired by handmade traditions.

Individual applicants may request up to $500; groups may apply for up to $1,000.

WARP is particularly interested in grants in the following areas:

  • Raw materials (fiber, yarn, dye garden supplies, wood to build a loom, etc.), which support your proposed project.
  • Tools/Equipment (sewing machines, looms, digital cameras, etc.)
  • Training (design, business, technical, etc.)
  • Marketing (craft fair stands, displays, brochures, catalogs, website, social media, etc.)

WARP does NOT support:

  • Startup expenses for new projects
  • Groups that create mass-produced items in factories
  • Designers/Exporters/Importers who do not directly work with artisans

Eligibility Criteria

  • Textile artisans from any country are welcome to apply. 
  • You can be an individual, association, cooperative, or small business. 
  • Your product must be fiber-based, handmade, and not mass-produced (in factories).

Application Process

Applicants must complete the entire application, which will ask you to explain your project in detail, including  specific information about what you want to do, how you want to do it, how much it will cost, and how it will help you grow your  business. Please include a detailed budget for how you will use the funds. You must also provide at least FIVE photos with your application.

Timeline

  • March 31, 2025: Application Deadline- Incomplete applications and those submitted after March 31 will NOT be considered
  • June 30: Grant recipients notified
  • August 31: (At the latest) Funds disbursed to grantees

Maximum amount for individuals is $500 USD. Maximum amount for groups is $1,000 USD.

Part 3, Project Information:

Provide as many details as possible. For example: “we want to expand our 2024 production by 20% by purchasing raw materials and two sewing machines”, “we want to send 5 people to a training workshop so that we can improve the quality of our designs”, or “we want to buy and be trained on using a digital camera to improve our product photos for our web site.”
For example: raw materials (dye garden, wood for loom, fiber), tools/equipment(sewing machines, looms, cell phone, computer), training (What? Where? Who will provide it?), marketing (product photography, support for trade shows/markets, social media).
For example: estimating costs, market research, etc.
The more details you provide, the better the Grants Committee can evaluate your application. For example, increase production by xx%, greater access to markets, increase revenue, better trained artisans, etc.

Part 4, Budget:

Please submit a detailed budget showing (in $USD) how specifically you plan to use your funds. For example: 2 Sewing machines, $200 each, TOTAL $400; 5 New thread bobbins for machines, $50 each, TOTAL $250; 2 hours Website design assistance, $100/hour, TOTAL $200; Photographer for website, TOTAL $400; 3 Trainings, instructor, Instructor fee $150 per lesson, TOTAL $450
