Kat Novak is a textile artist whose emphasis is on embroidery, handspinning, screen printing, and digital textile printing. Kat utilizes textiles to celebrate and preserve communities that are often overlooked. She embraces the intersection of hand processing and technology by utilizing digital textile printed imagery generated from shared photographed moments, embroidering, and hand sewing each piece. Her work has been displayed in Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. She has earned a BS and MA in Fashion from the University of Akron, a Master Handspinner Certificate from Haliburton School of Art and Design, and an MFA in Textiles from Kent State University.
Kat has been a WARP member for over a decade, and has served on WARP’s Board of Directors. She hosted WARP’s 2023 Annual Meeting at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, where she is the Associate Director of the TechStyleLAB and Faculty in the School of Fashion.
