Description

This beautiful strip weaving from Niger was donation by Dispositif d’Initiatives pour les Métiers de l’Artisanat or (DIMA). It was skillfully woven by one of three master Zarma weavers (pictured) from the village of Kirubbe Keyna, Niger, in the weaving studio at the DIMA school. The weavers work as instructors at the school in Niamey, Niger.  DIMA provides free vocational training and is also working with the weavers to preserve traditional Nigerien weaving.

The amazing black and white color and weave effect blocks are set off by simple blue, green and orange stripes with white fringed ends. This stunning piece is normally sewn with other strips of cloth to make a blanket for a wedding gift but this single strip can be used hung on the wall or as a runner for you to enjoy. It is new and measures 5” wide by 77” long.
