Description
This handy backpack was made by the Hanung Jonnom family business, who live in the eastern Himalayas of India and are of the Adi Tribe. The basket part of this backpack is woven from bamboo and reinforced with bark all in their natural colors. The basket is 8.5″ wide and 18″ high. The base width from the back is 5″.
Hanung’s family make the traditional baskets and clothing of this region and ethnic group of India, in Arunachal Pradesh. His father makes baskets of rattan and bamboo, and his mother the cotton textiles and clothing, lotus silk scarves and fabric. Hanung, or by his nickname, Ntony, studied engineering but made a conscientious decision to return to his small village instead of a life in Delhi, to follow his passion of raising awareness of the cultural art traditions of Aunchal Pradesh and keep them alive.
