Description
This understated scarf, made by the Hanung Jonnom family business, has a simplicity that works with a casual wardrobe. It has a gauzy handwoven look with the lotus silk and simple striped accents on the edges. Made in the eastern Himalayas of India by Hanung’s mother of the Adi tribe, it was never used and measures 77″ long x 12″ wide.
Hanung’s family make the traditional baskets and clothing of this region and ethnic group of India, in Arunachal Pradesh. His father makes baskets of rattan and bamboo, and his mother the cotton textiles and clothing, lotus silk scarves and fabric. Hanung, or by his nickname, Ntony, studied engineering but made a conscientious decision to return to his small village instead of a life in Delhi, to follow his passion of raising awareness of the cultural art traditions of Aunchal Pradesh and keep them alive.
