Description
This gorgeous and colorful cushion cover was donated by PSYDEH. The one-of-a-kind cushion cover is part of the first collection of Bordamos Juntos (Embroidering Together), a social enterprise of the Mexican grassroots organization PSYDEH. Bordamos Juntos celebrates Indigenous women from the Otomi-Tepehua region of central Mexico and their traditional textiles that represent important elements of their culture. The enterprise puts a fair wage directly in women’s pockets, helping them to support their families and local economies during COVID-19 and climate change. 100% of net profits goes directly to supporting women artisans organizing into a network of four new collectives in 2022 called the Sierra Madre Network.
This lovely cover depicting flowers, bugs and animals, was embroidered in the traditional Tenango design and techniques by the collective “Siempre Viva”. It is estimated 40+ hours of work to create and is 100% cotton. It measures 16″ wide x 17″ high and does not include the pillow form.
