This beautiful weft ikat is from Indonesia and was part of an extensive collection belonging to Gloria Davis, and donated to help WARP. The money from the sale of this will go towards the Gloria Davis Memorial Assistantships Fund, set up in 2018, to help people with limited finances attend WARP meetings in exchange for helping at the meeting.
This lovely piece was probably a sarong, possibly made from rayon. It is fairly simple for an Indonesian ikat, and is sewn on the selvage in the middle. It measures 56″ wide x 60″ long, and doubled over and hand-sewn along one edge. One side of the fabric shows some fading. It is a great size for a table runner or to hang on the wall over a rod.
