This amazing warp ikat is from Indonesia and was part of an extensive collection belonging to Gloria Davis, and donated to help WARP. The money from the sale of this will go towards the Gloria Davis Memorial Assistantships Fund, set up in 2018, to help people with limited finances attend WARP meetings in exchange for helping at the meeting.
It is guesswork to figure out the specifics of this ikat. This piece is made of cotton and/or hemp and the bright green and likely the bright red are accomplished with synthetic dyes and possibly the black too. The other colors are guessed to be naturally dyed.
This beauty measures 114″ x 32″ and would make a nice table covering/runner or hang it on the wall. Note: In the photo, the fabric is folded in half, so it is twice as long as pictured.
