About the Author
Lena Bartula is a Mexico-based artist from the United States, whose creations are inspired by the indigenous blouse or dress of Mesoamerica, the huipil. She uses it as a metaphoric container for all the stories that need to be told.As founder and director of La Huipilista Artspace in San Miguel de Allende, she exhibits her huipil work and the work of visiting artists, and provides a space for lectures, workshops, and other community events. A conceptual artist, activist, writer, curator, and teacher, her works are 95% recycled, revisioned materials-a testament to her commitment to the health of our planet and all its inhabitants.
