A Textile Traveler’s Guide to Guatemala

Designed to support the textile part of your travels (or just education), the book explores and explains the variety of textiles that make up the vibrant textile culture of Guatemala. Following the highways, the techniques of villages throughout the Mayan highland areas are shown and compared in an effort to explain the wide variety of designs and effort needed to produce them, and thus why prices vary so much. Also discussed are issues like ethical buying, cultural appropriation, and other challenges to the women of the weaving culture. Winner of a Silver Benjamin Franklin Award from IBPA.
