 Description:

In 1994 I self-published a two volume booklet on Johann Ludwig Speck. There were only about 200 copies printed as they were printed by hand on an offset press and collated and bound with hand-sewn binding. The cover was letterpress printed and embossed with a blind stamp of one of the Speck patterns. The book was divided into two volumes to accommodate hand sewn binding. Volume One is 60 pages, Volume Two is 48 pages and both are 8.5″x11″ soft bound. I worked with permission from the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which holds the original, to reproduce each of the patterns in the Speck manuscript and in addition I worked out threading, treadling and tie-up in profile form for each pattern. I also included a short history of Johann Speck, his genealogy, and how the manuscript came to America. Copies are no longer available, however I might scan each page and make it available in digital form at some point if there was interest.
