Bolivian Faja

Winning Bid: $20.00

Item condition: New

Description

This traditional faja, or woven belt, was handwoven by Vilma Mamani in Bolivia of the Club de Artesanas Independencia. Handwoven on a backstrap loom, it features intricate geometric patterns in black and white set against stripes of warm gold, earthy brown, and deep crimson. Traditionally worn as a sash or belt in Indigenous dress, the faja also serves as a beautiful decorative textile or strap. Made from wool, it reflects both the artistry and cultural heritage of Huancarani weaving traditions — a perfect blend of function and history. Measures 5″ wide by 68″ long.
