Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco Table Mats – Peru

This set of two handwoven table mats was crafted about 45 years ago by renowned Peruvian weaver Nilda Callañaupa of Chinchero, one of the founders and current director of the Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco. Made from handspun, hand-dyed wool yarns using traditional Andean techniques, each mat features intricate geometric patterns in rich natural colors. One combines deep black and red tones, while the other pairs red with dark green. Woven with remarkable precision, these 10.25 x 13.5-inch pieces represent the enduring artistry and heritage of Quechua weaving traditions.
