Bold, sculptural, and rooted in decades of artistic exploration, Seattle Red reflects the visionary basketry practice of Jackie Abrams. A beloved member of the Weave A Real Peace community for nearly twenty years, Jackie’s work bridged art, activism, and global connection through textile traditions and basketry.

 

Jackie began her career apprenticing with a traditional basket maker in western Massachusetts before evolving toward contemporary sculptural forms rich with color and texture. Her work has been exhibited internationally and collected by museums in both the United States and the United Kingdom. This piece was generously donated to WARP from the personal collection of longtime member Steve Csipke following his passing. A lifelong friend and devoted supporter of Jackie Abrams’ work, Steve carefully stewarded an extensive collection of her pieces, making this donation a meaningful tribute to both their friendship and shared commitment to the fiber arts community.
