Description

A $5.00 ticket gives you a chance to win this striking blue and gray Hmong quilt which features both hand-stitched applique and reverse applique. Pa ndau (flower cloths) were traditionally used as ritual and ceremonial textiles; today Hmong needleworkers use these techniques and patterns to produce non-traditional textiles for the Western commercial market. The spiraling reverse applique pattern is a symbol of an elephant’s foot and represents prosperity. It is large enough to cover a queen sized bed – 94″ X 112″.

This textile was donated by WARP member Dewi Win, and was purchased in Thailand around 1985.
