This vintage huipil from San Juan Cotzal in the Ixil region of northern Quiché is a masterful example of traditional Mayan weaving and design. Handwoven on a backstrap loom, it features an intricate brocade of geometric and zigzag motifs in vibrant shades of red, yellow, green, and pink against a sky-blue cotton background. The densely embroidered yoke showcases exceptional craftsmanship, reflecting the artisan’s heritage and regional identity. Softened with age and rich in cultural meaning, this huipil is both a wearable work of art and a collector’s piece celebrating Guatemala’s enduring textile traditions.
