Meet a Member: Fireside Chat with Carol Ventura

Carol Ventura was born in the US but has also lived in Portugal, Guatemala, and Mexico. She worked with a weaving cooperative as a Peace Corps volunteer 1976-80, then wrote Maya Hair Sashes Backstrap Woven in Jacaltenango, Guatemala, a bilingual book, and three books about tapestry crochet: https://www.tapestrycrochet.com.
Her web page at https://www.carolventura.com includes links to craftspeople from around the world. Carol taught ceramics, photography, metalsmithing, and printmaking before becoming Tennessee Technological University’s Art Historian in 1994. She retired in 2021 and is now a full-time artist and gardener.
