Continuing Textile Traditions : Textile Podcasts – Sharing Traditions Old and New
January 15, 2026
There are by now roughly 4 ½ million podcasts being put out to 600 million listeners all over the world. That is pretty staggering. How could anyone ever find what they are looking for? This month’s Panel Presentation is designed to help us navigate our small segment, the world of textile-based podcasts. Our speakers are all podcast hosts who bring us a combination of entertainment and useful information, each in a very different style. Podcast producers Anne Merrow and Rocío Mena will share their experiences and answer questions about how and why they do it. Join us.
This event is free and open to all. Please note that if you would like to attend but are unavailable at the time listed, register anyway and you will receive a link to the recording as soon as it is available.
Panelists:
Rocío Mena Gutierrez is a WARP board member from Mexico City. She is the founder of ZIKURI & a Natural dye passionate. Through her monthly podcast Caminos Alquímicos (Alchemical Paths), she unites her passion for textiles and sharing stories. Learning about how and why textile artists, artisans and designers do what they do can give us valuable insights. She believes that listening to life path stories and how textiles have transformed their lives can inspire us to follow our own passions.
Anne Merrow fell in love with knitting as a young editor and has looked for opportunities to talk about textiles ever since. As a founder of Long Thread Media, she serves as the editorial director of Handwoven, Spin Off, PieceWork, Little Looms, and Farm &a Fiber Knits. She lives in Colorado and crafts while listening to podcasts and audiobooks. Anne is the host of the Long Thread Podcast which brings listeners into the world of textiles through in-depth conversations with makers, artists, and innovators. In wide- ranging, unstructured interviews, we hear from leaders and characters and inspiring fiber artists as they talk about their knowledge and love of textiles.
