Networking Roundtable: Health & Safety While Traveling
March 24, 2026
Join WARP each month for Networking Roundtable online discussion groups, which give members an opportunity to network and discuss topics of interest that advance WARP’s overall mission.
WARP members are renowned for their love of travel and exploration of textiles around the world. Whether you’re traveling independently or as part of a tour, there may be health and safety considerations that impact the trip. Understanding the risks in advance, and proper planning, can make or break your travel experience. Join us to share your own tips, stories, and health and safety precautions that have proved beneficial to your travels (or the things you wish you had known before you left home).
Please note that if you would like to attend but are unavailable at the time listed, register anyway and you will receive a link to the recording as soon as it is available.
Facilitator:
Shila Desai conceptualizes and organizes small group textile travel to India, Japan, Mexico, Morocco and further. Born and raised in Kenya of Indian ancestry, Shila developed roots in East Africa and India, and later the U.K before settling in Canada. Lived experience of the places of her origins infuses the trips that Shila has planned for the past fifteen years. She writes creative non-fiction when travel allows, and shares her Toronto home with her husband and African Grey parrot. No prizes for guessing who rules the roost.
