Networking Roundtable: Sustainability
January 28, 2025
Join WARP for our new monthly members program! In January, we begin a series of Networking Roundtable online discussion groups for members on Zoom. The goal is to give members an opportunity to network and discuss topics of interest that advance WARP’s overall mission.
Sustainability in textiles is one of the most urgent issues in the world today: 35% of the microplastics released into the oceans are from synthetic textiles, 20% of industrial water pollution is attributable to the dyeing and treatment of textiles, and in 2015, greenhouse gas emissions from textile production totaled more than those of all international flights and maritime shipping combined. As people who value the textile arts, how can we promote and incorporate sustainability? What are its various facets, and how can we weigh the various factors to make the best possible decisions? Let’s get the discussion going so that we can start taking action!

She has published articles in Ply Magazine and in Shuttle, Spindle & Dyepot and is currently a member of the Handweavers Guild of America’s board of directors, where her focus is on sustainability and inclusivity.
