As a member of the Networking Roundtable Committee, I had the opportunity to introduce Karl Aspelund. I was rather intrigued by him as he had written his PhD Thesis on Icelandic dress, and it so happens my paternal grandmother was Icelandic.  In a preparatory meeting I asked him about his heritage.  It turns out he is indeed born in Iceland…
